Mesaj catre Primaria Municipiului BucurestiMessage to the Bucharest City HallNachricht an das Rathaus von Bukarest

‘Domnule Primar General,

Dear Bucharest Mayor,

When will we be able to congratulate you like we congratulated the Mayor of Oradea on his initiative?

Oradea City Hall announced it will promote a regulation concerning the neutering/spaying of dogs on private and public property during a local council meeting on October 23. According to this regulation, owners whose pets are 6 months or older will be required to neuter/spay their animals, with the following exceptions:

1. Dogs unable to undergo surgery for medical reasons

2. Working dogs assisting disabled individuals

3.   If the dog owner pays a $100 yearly fee per dog. This money will be used to support dogs in local shelters.

In addition, the new regulation will require all pet owners to microchip their dogs. Records will be kept in a database managed by City Hall.”

It is shameful for the citizens of Bucharest to do nothing, while the citizens of Oradea, along with those in other cities, are taking initiative towards solving the stray dog problem. We are suggesting, as we have done many times, that a similar action needs to be taken for cats. The problem with the stray cat population is the same as that of dogs.

It is in your power to address this problem with stray animals in Bucharest as well, as this city is the capital of our country and should set an example for all of Romania.

Many thanks,

Marilena Cristian

President of “Asociatia Robi”

We are waiting for an answer from the Mayor of Bucharest. In the meantime, we ask that you please visit the site of the Municipality of Bucharest and forward your request to the Mayor and his counselors (whose cooperation and consent is required for any decision), to implement the measures mentioned above in regard to dogs, and extend them to include cats.

Vielen Dank,

Marilena Cristian
